NEW HOPE — A Wednesday morning fire delivered moderate damage to Tiffany Davis’ house at 3516 Highway 50 E. in New Hope. However, the family lost most of their possessions and the Christmas presents for Caitlyn Perrigen, 5, and Brandon Perrigen, 8.
This enticed Katie Burchfield of New Hope to help the family and make their Christmas season a little better after the tragedy.
“We’re having a benefit yard sale in New Hope Saturday,” she said.
The yard sale will take place at 836 Oswalt Road beginning at 6 a.m., and everything raised will go toward the family. It will end whenever every item is sold.
“I’m selling some jewelry and other people are donating things like furniture and clothing. There’s a lady that makes designer wreaths, and she will be donating a few of those as well. We have somebody donating a refrigerator,” Burchfield said.
“The mother had saved up several months to buy her children Christmas presents … Other than finding a place to live and get new furniture, she also has to think about Christmas for her kids, which is just two weeks away.”
Burchfield said she became friends with Davis through Facebook and felt obligated to help her and her family.
“Her and I have been talking for the last two days, about four or five times a day,” Burchfield said.
“We have a Facebook page that I started with a link to the Paypal account for her and information on what they need and what the kids want for Christmas”
The Facebook page’s name is Help Tiffany Davis & kids.
“She had saved up to buy her son a Nintendo DS 3D console and her daughter a regular Nintendo DS console and an Easy Bake oven. Tiffany’s mother told me that’s some of the things she bought on Black Friday.”
The cause of the fire is still undetermined, but it appeared to have started in a closet, which is where the children’s presents were stored.
The family was sleeping when awakened by the smell of smoke at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Davis’ husband, Brian Davis, was not home at the time.
Davis and her children are staying at a motel paid for by the American Red Cross.
