A Lowndes County home was destroyed Tuesday morning, and officials are investigating how it started.
No one was injured in the fire that started about 3 a.m. inside a mobile home at 883 Motley Road near the Golden Triangle Regional Airport.
They were inside at the time and one resident reported smoke, Lowndes County Fire Coordinator Sammy Fondren said.
All three residents escaped safely.
Lowndes County District 5 volunteer firefighters responded to the home and battled the fire. It rekindled about 7 a.m., Fondren said. District 4 firefighters also responded.
District 5 Supervisor Leroy Brooks said he visited the scene, and the mobile home is destroyed. There is another mobile home about 10 feet from the scene, he noted.
It is a blessing the fire was contained and more residences were not damaged, Brook said.
