ABERDEEN — Aberdeen school board members voted to fire their top educator Monday night.
The school board dismissed Chester Leigh in executive session during their regular meeting on Monday.
WCBI-TV reported the board also fired Phonecia Witherspoon, the district’s chief financial officer.
Last year, Aberdeen residents Lady Garth and Jo Ann Cunningham approached the school board with a list of complaints about the school district.
They also called for Leigh’s resignation.
Leigh has been superintendent of schools in Aberdeen since 2009. He had a three-year contract with the district at a salary of $90,000.
