COLUMBUS — A Columbus Police Department reserve officer was arrested Tuesday and charged with embezzlement.
Eric Maurice Lewis, 39, of 1617 23rd St. N. in Columbus is an employee at Lowe’s Home Improvement on Military Road.
Lewis was arrested by police at the store, said CPD Public Information Officer Terrie Songer.
Lewis is accused in connection with the charging of about $8,000 of Lowe’s merchandise to a contractor’s credit card account at the store, Songer reported. Seneca Harbin, 34, of Kilmicheal made the charges to the card.
The incident happened between the months of April and May.
Harbin was arrested in August and charged with fraudulent use of an ID. Lewis has been a reserve officer with the CPD for less than a year, Songer said.
Lewis was released on his own recognizance, and his court date is Jan. 19.
A spokesman at Lowe’s was not available to comment on Lewis’ employment.
