Plantersville police arrested a man last week who is suspected in a Lowndes County armed robbery.
Levelle Deshay Grandberry, 23, of 746 Gatlin Road in Columbus, was arrested Thursday on charges of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and receiving stolen property, according to a news release from the Plantersville Police Department.
Grandberry also was wanted in connection with a November armed robbery in Lowndes County.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Ryan Rickert said a man robbed a motorist with a firearm and fled with a little less than $1,000 on the night of Nov. 17.
Investigators identified Grandberry as the suspect in the case with the complainant’s help.
“They’re not close friends, but he knew who he was,” Rickert said.
Grandberry was transported to Lowndes County on Tuesday and is at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. He has a prior conviction for aggravated assault and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and was on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
According to the news release, police made the arrest during a domestic violence investigation in Plantersville.
