JACKSON -- Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant says he'll reveal detailed policy proposals during his first State of the State address.
The speech is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on the south steps of the state Capitol, weather permitting.
Bryant says he plans to develop details for some issues he discussed briefly during his Jan. 10 inaugural address, including pursuing job creation, changing the state budget process and strengthening education.
Bryant spokesman Mick Bullock says Bryant has given Department of Human Services director Rickey Berry 30 days to develop a plan to reduce Mississippi's teen pregnancy rate, long one of the highest in the nation.
Bullock says Bryant believes doctors, schools, businesses and churches also need to identify teen pregnancy "as an activity more dangerous than smoking."
