STARKVILLE — Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt expects to have autopsy results for Mississippi State University student Teresa Ann Veal by Wednesday afternoon.
Veal, of 100 Camden Court, Madison, was found unresponsive at Dawgs Landing Apartments on Louisville Street shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday. Starkville Police Chief David Lindley said the investigation into Veal’s death is ongoing. Foul play is not suspected. Lindley did not know who placed the 911 call.
The Starkville Police Department didn’t have updates about the death Monday and likely won’t until autopsy results are returned, Lindley said.
Veal was a senior at MSU and a member of Pi Beta Phi’s Mississippi Gamma Chapter.
“Tess had such a fun and loving personality,” said Mississippi Gamma Chapter President Caitlin Lesley. “She always welcomed new friends and really invested her time in other people.”
Lindley told The Dispatch Saturday that Veal was found unresponsive, in her bed, by her roommate.
Monday, Debbie Veal Hannah, Veal’s aunt, said her niece was not discovered by her roommate and that she didn’t live in the complex. Hannah did not comment on who discovered Veal’s body.
Lindley said Monday that police are unsure if she was visiting a friend or if she lived there.
Hannah said Veal’s parents declined comment.
According to information gathered by the Northwest Indiana Times, Veal was an honors student and took advanced-placement classes as an upperclassman at Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Ill. Veal graduated from Marian in 2009.
“I remember Tess as being one of those students that always smiled a lot, was outgoing and positive all the time,” said Scott Bodnar, Veal’s AP Psychology teacher at Marian. “She was a great student to have in the classroom.”
While memorial services are still being arranged, letters of condolences can be sent to: The Mississippi Gamma Chapter house of Pi Beta Phi: 110 Robert L. Jones Dr., Mississippi State University, MS 39762-6219.
