A Columbus man, pulled over for careless driving, was arrested on drug charges. Ommartra Haney, 23, of 2869 Frisco Rd., was stopped by deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department March 12. Haney, allegedly in possession of cocaine and marijuana, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and careless driving. His bond was set at $11,525 and his initial court appearance is April 24.
Arrests reported by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and the Columbus Police Department this week include:
Howard Lee Smart, 52, of 867 John Smart Rd, Crawford, was arrested by CPD on March 12 and charged with grand larceny. His bond was set at $2,500 and his initial court date is April 5.
Reuben Dominique Rice, 20, of 3756 Nashville Ferry Road, was arrested by CPD on March 10 and charged with possession, sale or transfer of a stolen firearm. His bond was set at $1,000. A court date has not been determined.
James Thomas Perkins Jr., 52, of 298 East Plum St. was arrested by the LCSO on March 9 after a bench warrant was issued. He was charged with felonious false pretense. His court date and bond remain to be set.
Paul Barksdale, 40, of 5160 Hwy. 50 E, Steens, was arrested by LCSO on March 9 and charged with three counts sale of controlled substance and one count child abuse. His bond was set at $40,000. His initial court date has not been set.
Jonathan Keith Spencer, 52, of 303 Taylor St., was arrested by LCSO on March 9 and charged with unauthorized copying or sale of a recording. His bond was set at $7,500. A court date has not been determined.
