Columbus will play host to the Public Relations Association of Mississippi (PRAM) annual state conference Thursday and Friday.
Professional awards, including the Prism Award, which honors outstanding work in the field of public relations by professionals within the state of Mississippi, which will be presented on Thursday evening. The Professional Excellence award, including Educator of the Year, will be announced at lunch on Friday.
“Columbus already is known for its dynamic downtown, successful economic development efforts and diverse university culture,” said Brennan Dockery, President of the local PRAM chapter. “What better group of people to show that off to than public relations specialists from across the state. The Golden Triangle Chapter for the Public Relations Association of Mississippi is very excited about hosting the state conference in Columbus for the first time! It’s a wonderful opportunity to spread the word about a community we already know is great.”
“This will be the very first year that the annual PRAM state conference will be held in Columbus and we couldn’t do it without the support of the community,” said PRAM State President Meagan Coughlin, who also is a member of the organization’s Golden Triangle Chapter. ” Thanks to all of those who have helped us make this a success.”

PRAM is composed of 10 local chapters geographically located throughout the state’s major population centers. Membership consists of about 600 public relations professionals, from advertising and public relations agencies, corporations, non-profit organizations, government, education, industries and others. PRAM offers its members numerous opportunities for professional growth, including conferences, workshops and other learning opportunities, study programs for accreditation, annual professional awards, and fostering a greater knowledge of the public relations field.
