An investigation into an early morning burglary at 4-County Electric Power Association led to the arrest of a Columbus couple. Raven Givens and William Davis were arrested at 607 21st Ave. N at around 1 a.m. by Columbus Police Department officers Thursday morning. Both were charged with possession of cocaine and transported to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center. Davis was also charged with possession of a firearm by a felon. Police reports said he also had unidentified charges in Lowndes County and three warrants for his arrest in Columbus.
Davis and Givens were arrested after officers responded around midnight to a burglary in progress call at 2000 6th St. North, 4-County’s Columbus office. A black male was spotted leaving the property. He was about 6’4″ and was wearing a black tee-shirt, camouflage pants and a black ski mask. He allegedly ran from the officers when he was approached. Eight rolls of copper wire were found outside the fence. Police believe the suspect had cut a hole in the fence as an access point.
The officers were dispatched to 607 21st Ave. N around 1 a.m. in response to a possible spotting of the burglary suspect. Once they arrived, they allegedly smelled marijuana and served a search warrant on the residence. Givens and Davis were arrested and taken into custody after the drugs and a 22-caliber revolver pistol were found in the home.
The CPD is still investigating the burglary.
