An Oktibbeha County man is being held at the county jail after a July 4 altercation that resulted in the death of one Sunset Subdivision resident.
Richard Nurse, 39, of 909 Old West Point Rd., is being held at Oktibbeha County Jail on two counts of Domestic Violence-Simple and one count of Manslaughter in connection with the incident.
Deputies responded to 180 Glenn Lane in the Sunset Subdivision of Oktibbeha County for a call of a family disturbance, and upon arrival found Aleatha Edmonds, 34, who lived at the residence, in “physical distress.” Oktibbeha County Hospital EMT’s responded to the scene and transported the victim to the OCH emergency room. The victim was later pronounced dead at OCH.
The victim has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office in Jackson for an autopsy.
A call to the Oktibbeha County Sherriff’s Office confirmed that a bond has been set, and is listed on his booking card, but the amount was unavailable.
