STARKVILLE — A weekend assault has left one man in a medically-induced coma and investigators searching for details.
The assault occurred early Sunday morning at Cowbells Bar and Grill in the Highlands area near the campus of Mississippi State University. Officials with the Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department said the violent incident occurred when a fight broke out between patrons. A press release issued by the sheriff’s department stated that the fight was broken up by Cowbells security.
A source said the victim’s family members believe the security staff to be responsible for the injuries and other sources said the security staff was responsible for the injuries sustained by the man.
OCSD officials would not comment on those claims.
Investigators are pursuing all leads on the case, including reviewing a tape from the bar’s security camera.
The victim is reportedly in stable condition at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to call the OCSD Investigations at 662-324-8484.
