James “Chuck” Newell has been convicted of manslaughter for the second time by a circuit court jury.
Newell was accused in 2009 of shooting and killing then 31-year-old Adrian Boyette at the Slab House, a bar on the outskirts of Lowndes County near Caledonia.
Newell was initially charged with murder but was found guilty of manslaughter in the 2008 slaying. The Mississippi Supreme Court ruled a retrial.
Newell will be sentenced September 7 by Judge Lee Coleman.
