Seven people were arrested Wednesday night and face various drug-related charges after agents with Columbus-Lowndes Metro Narcotics executed a search warrant at a Hill Drive residence located off Land Road in Lowndes County.
Torrey Harris, Eric McPherson, Cedric Calmes, Daniel Shelton, Marcus Dawson, Marque Dawson and Tavarris Guyton are all facing charges ranging from possession of cocaine to possession of marijuana more than an ounce with intent to distribute.
When agents arrived at the Hill Drive home, they discovered four people in the front yard dividing marijuana among themselves. All four suspects ran from agents, with one reportedly hiding in a swamp-like area. All four were quickly apprehended.
Three suspects inside the home were taken into custody.
Cocaine, pills, hashish and approximately 20 ounces of high-grade marijuana were found inside the residence. Worth $300 to $400 per ounce, the marijuana had an estimated street value of $6,000 to $8,000. They also seized approximately $1,000 in cash. Three cars were also seized from the home.
Metro Narcotics Commander Bobby Grimes said the narcotics unit will continue to focus on high-volume drug dealers.
“We’re going to continue to identify these guys and take them off the streets,” he said.
The seven are awaiting a bond pending their initial appearance in Justice Court.
The LCSD’s Special Response Team and Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics aided in the raid.
