4-County Electric Power Association is urging its members to beware of a telephone scam.
Officials say some 4-County members and non-members are receiving calls from an automated phone system requesting that account balances and collection balances be paid.
The caller identification displays “4-County,” and the phone number 662-327-8900. While that number is a 4-County phone number, the cooperative and any collection agencies associated with it do not use automated calls.
“These automated calls are not from 4-County or from any of our affiliated collection agencies,” said Jon Turner, 4-County manager of marketing and public relations.
4-County officials urge people receiving these calls to not give out any credit card information or any other information.
“In fact,” Turner said, “we urge anyone receiving these calls to contact their local law enforcement agency.”
