A Columbus man was arrested for an armed robbery at a Southside apartment complex earlier this week.
Darrion Donyae Walls, 23, of 1320 2nd Avenue N., was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony armed robbery and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
Dispatchers with E-911 received a "shots fired" call just after 1:30 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Manor apartments, located at 901 11th St . S.
When Columbus police officers arrived on the scene, a man told them he had just been robbed at gun point. The victim said he and two passengers pulled into the apartment complex and noticed a group of males in the parking lot. As he got out of his car, the group approached him and demanded money. Walls allegedly pulled a gun and stole the victim's iPhone, car speakers, $500 in cash and a gold chain. The two passengers were not robbed.
Walls and the other males fled the scene before police arrived. He was arrested later that day by CPD investigators and released from the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center Thursday on $5,687 bond.
Walls has been arrested eight times since 2007 on various misdemeanor charges ranging from carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, trespassing and traffic-related charges. Tuesday's armed robbery arrest was his first felony arrest. His court date is set for Feb. 20.
Investigators are still searching for the other males involved in the robbery. Officials with the department said more arrests are expected. Anyone with information about the incident are asked to call Golden Triangle Crimestoppers at 1-800-531-7151.
