The Starkville Police Department filed charges against two drivers involved in a fatal Jan. 25 car wreck.
Jeree Blackwell, 25, of 118 Montgomery St. No. 5, was charged with DUI-second offense and driving with a suspended license, while Christopher James, 22, of 145 Chapel Lane in Madison, was charged with two felony counts of aggravated DUI resulting in injury and death, an SPD press release states.
Charges resulted from blood analysis conducted by the Mississippi Crime Lab, the release states.
Blackwell ($1,551) and James ($20,000) are both out on bond.
A 2004 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Blackwell collided with a 2007 Jeep Wrangler driven by James at 2:02 a.m., the release states. Blackwell’s passenger, Deseane Robinson, 23, of 2011 Williams Road, died of injuries associated with the wreck.
The Grand Am burst into flames after the accident, and Starkville firefighters worked to free Robinson, who was pinned in the vehicle. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene.
