A Starkville man is in custody and other arrests are expected after a Tuesday night fight at a Starkville apartment complex sent two to the hospital and left several others injured.
LaKorian Tuqaian Stewart, 23, was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon Tuesday after officers with the Starkville Police Department responded to a 911 call of shots fired and a large fight at the Brooksville Gardens Apartment Complex.
Stewart was allegedly carrying the weapon with serial numbers filed off.
Two people were seriously injured in the brawl, officials said. According to a press release sent out by the SPD, one victim sought medical treatment at the North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point for a “long slash wound” while a second victim received treatment at the Oktibbeha County Hospital-Regional Medical Center for blunt force trauma to the head. In addition to the weapon reportedly found in Stewart’s possession, a knife and a crowbar were also allegedly used in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
