JACKSON — One of three women accused in the kidnapping last week of a 6-year-old Kemper County girl was the secretary at her elementary school.
Authorities tell The Clarion-Ledger 54-year-old Jesse Mae Brown Pollard was charged last week with taking Jashayla Markayia Hopson from East Kemper Elementary School in Scooba, Miss. On Friday, 51-year-old Wanda Faye Dancy and 25-year-old Shamarius Ruff were both arrested in Meridian in connection with the case.
All three women are charged with kidnapping.
According to the affidavit, Dancy told agents that Pollard had told her she wanted to take the child for “leverage” in order to get some land back.
Pollard was denied bond and she remains in federal custody.
Ruffin and Dancy have a preliminary hearing this week.
It was unclear whether the women have attorneys.
