Terry Walker pleaded guilty to one count of armed robbery in Lowndes County Circuit Court earlier this week.
Walker, 38, of West Point, was sentenced to 20 years with five suspended for the October 2011 armed robbery of Creekstone Chevron on Highway 45 North in Columbus.
Walker admitted to walking into the store and purchasing several items from the clerk before brandishing a weapon and demanding money. He then fled the scene with getaway driver Larrie Bell.
A store customer followed the pair into Monroe County where the suspects were apprehended by law enforcement.
Walker will serve 15 years consecutive with a two-year burglary sentence from Monroe County. He was also ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. Bell is still awaiting trial.
Cordarius Stewart will serve eight years for the fatal car accident that claimed the life of his friend.
Stewart, 24, of Columbus, pleaded guilty in Lowndes County Circuit Court to DUI manslaughter after the vehicle he was driving flipped into a ditch after a high-speed chase. Stewart and Jamie Whooper, 20, were ejected from the vehicle. Whooper later died from his injuries.
Stewart admitted to driving more than 110 mph on Jess Lyons Road as he tried to escape the pursuit of Lowndes County deputies. Stewart had a blood alcohol content of 1.35 at the time of the accident.
In addition to the eight year sentence, Stewart was also ordered to pay a fine of $3,600. The sentence will run consecutive to a five-year burglary sentence Stewart is currently serving.
