A man drowned Saturday evening in Caledonia.
Authorities confirmed an unidentified Hispanic male drowned in the Buttahatchee Creek near Lawrence Bridge around 7 p.m. Saturday.
According to law enforcement, the victim and a group of friends were playing volleyball on the bank of the river when the ball fell in the water.
Witnesses said the man jumped in the water after the ball and was dragged under by the current.
As of press time Saturday evening, recovery efforts were still underway.
