An ongoing investigation has led to more charges of exploitation of a minor for a Caledonia man.
Kevin Ross Smith, 30, of 2101 North Wolfe Road, was arrested Wednesday at the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department after an interview with investigators. He was charged with exploitation of a minor based upon communications with an underage female that were sexual in nature, according to a press release issued by the sheriff’s department.
Smith was released from the Lowndes County Adult Detention on a $75,000 bond.
Wednesday’s arrest is Smith’s second charge of exploitation of a minor in the last month. He was arrested Sept. 30 for allegedly soliciting sex from a 13-year-old girl.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, Smith contacted the girl on a social media website and asked her to send him nude photos of herself. The teen told her mother who then contacted law enforcement. A sting operation was set up and Smith went to the Piggly Wiggly parking lot in New Hope with the intent of meeting the girl for sex. He was arrested on scene.
Sources say his most recent arrest stems from information found on his computer seized after his September arrest.
The case against Smith will be presented to the grand jury in February.
