The Columbus post office on Bluecutt Road will have its retail windows open for two extra hours on Saturday for the holidays.
Doug Kyle, who works for the U.S. Postal Service’s Mississippi District, said the post office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The post office on Main Street will have its windows manned for normal Saturday hours: 8:30 a.m. to noon.
The post offices will close retail lobby operations by noon on Dec. 24 and again on Dec. 31.
The Postal Service expects to process 545 million pieces of mail every day throughout this holiday season. That equals nearly 15 billion pieces of mail to be delivered between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Eve, according to Kyle.
