A Columbus man has been charged in a shooting that left another man injured.
Demarco Montreal Billups, 23, of 201 Short Brown Street, was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated assault with a weapon.
According to Latasha Key with the Columbus Police Department, Billups allegedly opened fire at Quick and Easy Food Mart, located at 227 North McCrary Street, on February 3, striking a man once in the chest.
Billups fled the scene and the victim was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital–Golden Triangle where he was treated and released.
Billups turned himself in to the CPD Tuesday afternoon. He received a bond of $10,000. He bonded out the same day.
While Billups has been arrested seven times since 2009, Tuesday’s arrest was his first felony.
