Students from Caledonia Middle School swept the Regional Science Fair at Mississippi State University.
Twenty-three students in grades sixth, seventh and eighth attended the fair that included schools from 16 counties. Every student from Caledonia won an award. Those awards included 11 first place finishes, as well as the Best of Fair award. The winners advance to the state competition in Greenville next month.
Principal Karen Pittman said she was proud of the students and their teachers.
“The teachers and students worked extremely hard and their tenacity in this endeavor was outstanding at the local and regional level,” she said. “Many of our students will be competing at the state competition in Greenville.”
This school year is the first year Caledonia Middle School has held a science fair.
