Three shootings occurred in Lowndes County in a 72-hour period.
A shooting at Motel 6 in Columbus Saturday and left a man injured, according to Latasha Key with the Columbus Police Department. The victim was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle where he was treated for a gunshot wound sustained to the arm. The incident is still under investigation, Key said.
On Sunday, Kelby Ewon Dora, 35, of 307 Florence Street, was arrested after an officer saw him firing into a crowd at the A& D Bar and Grill from his vehicle, Key said. Dora is being charged with misdemeanor DUI, discharging a firearm in the city limits, drive-by-shooting and possession of a stolen firearm, according to Key. He is currently in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a $41,432 bond.
The incident is still under investigation, Key said.
Monday afternoon, deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to 392 Read Drive for shots fired.
Witnesses allegedly saw Lee Thompson, 39, shooting at a neighbor, according to investigators. Stray bullets hit Thompson’s Chevrolet Tahoe. Thompson was taken into custody.
A female was also arrested on scene for possession of cocaine, investigators said. Authorities declined to release her name, citing an ongoing investigation.
