NETTLETON — The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating a verbal argument inside a vehicle that ended with three people dead, two of them brothers, in the center of Nettleton.
The incident occurred about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday. Police say two men died at the scene and a third died from his wounds at a Tupelo hospital. Authorities say the suspect/shooter fired at Nettleton police officers and was shot and killed.
Bureau spokesman Warren Strain says the shooter/suspect has been identified as 49-year-old Otis Eugene Bass of Shannon. The victim who died at the scene has been identified as 44-year-old Joseph Valie Bass, the brother of Otis Bass. The victim who died in the hospital was 33-year-old Jamie C. Guin of Mantachie.
Strain says it’s unknown what the argument was about.
