A quick look around the Golden Triangle reveals no shortage of ways for goblins large and small to get into the festive spirit. Check out this sampling of events ranging from costume contests to fall carnivals taking place during the next three days. Keep in mind, inclement weather could affect some outdoor events.
Today
Sorority Row Trick or Treating — Children in costume are invited to trick-or-treat on Mississippi State University’s Sorority Row on campus from 5-6 p.m. Info: 662-325-3917;
CAB Halloween Carnival — The MSU Campus Activities Board sponsors this carnival from 6-8 p.m. at The Junction. Admission is free; activities carry a nominal cost. Info: 662-325-2930;
Halloween on the Farm — MSU’s Block and Bridle Club presents a haunted house at South Farm on campus, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5. Info: 662-325-5208;
Hall of Terror — Mississippi University for Women’s Community Living will host a haunted house in the basement of Calloway Hall on campus at 8 p.m. Donations will be taken at the door for the United Way student campaign. Info: sparker@ss.muw.edu;

Pie eating contest — MSU students, faculty and staff are invited to stuff themselves at the pumpkin pie-eating contest at noon on the MSU campus at the Marketplace at Perry. The winner takes home an iPod. Info: 662-325-8138;
Masquerade Ball — Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern, 410 Dr. Martin Luther King Dr., in Starkville will hold a masquerade ball, with music by Poacher Friday, and a Halloween party Oct. 31. Info: 662-324-3316.

Kids’ Halloween — The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library, 314 Seventh St. N., presents a afternoon of treats and stories for children from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Costumes are encouraged. Info: 662-329-5300;
Evangel Fall Festival — Evangel Church, 500 Holly Hills Road in Columbus, will host a festival from 5:30-8:30 p.m. with free food, games, live music, fireworks show, inflatables and a chili cook-off. Open to the public. Info: 662-329-2279.
Point of Grace Festival — Columbus’ Point of Grace Church, 503 18th Ave. N., will hold a fall festival from 7-9:30 p.m. with food, games and inflatables. Open to the public. Info: 662-328-7811.
East End Harvest Fest — East End Baptist Church, 380 Highway 50 W., in Columbus invites the public to this celebration with free food, games and door prizes, from 6-8 p.m. Info: 662-328-5915.
Ghostly Gallivant — This walking procession for costumed adults 21 and up will leave from J. Broussard’s Restaurant at 7 p.m. and stop at various establishments serving alcoholic beverages. No entry fee, but costumes are required. Info: 662-242-3395;
Zombie Walk — All ages are invited to join this family-friendly costumed walking procession leaving the Tennessee Williams Welcome Center, 300 Main St., in Columbus at 8 p.m. Info: 662-570-9307;
Halloween at the Princess — Come costumed to the Princess Theater’s Halloween dance party from 9 p.m.-1 a.m. on Fifth Street South; entertainment by the Hooded Deer’s Second Chance Zombie Dance. Info: 662-889-7427;
Woody’s on the Water — The winner of Woody’s costume contest at the Marina in Columbus gets a free party for 20 people. Ian Faith entertains from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Hourly drawings for door prizes. ($5 cover). Info: 662-329-1616;
