A man wanted in connection with a 1979 cold case murder in Florida has been arrested in Columbus.
Nathaniel Bigbee, 59, of Hillsborough, Florida, was arrested Monday night in the Sunflower grocery store parking lot on Military Road.
Local U.S. Marshals received word from Florida investigators that Bigbee was in town visiting his sister. After surveillance, Bigbee was arrested without incident. An arrest warrant had been issued for Bigbee earlier in the month before he fled Florida, according to a release issued by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department.
Bigbee is in the custody of the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center with a hold for the Plant City Police Department.
Investigators with Plant City were not available for comment.
