A Lowndes County elementary school was ranked in the top 10 of schools in the state.
Caledonia Elementary School was ranked sixth by School Digger, a website that ranks schools across the country based on their test scores. CES is currently the only school in the district ranked an “A” by the Mississippi Department of Education.
Robin Ballard, assistant superintendent and curriculum coordinator for the district, said the School Digger ranking is a major accomplishment for the school and the district.
“It doesn’t just happen,” Ballard said. “It takes vision, leadership and teacher, student and community support. Congratulations to the teachers and students. Principal Roger Hill has established a culture of excellence with the help of the Caledonia Elementary Assistant Principals Christy Adams and Gregory Elliott, tutor and Assessment Coordinator Vonda Winter, the rest of the building leadership team.”
According to School Digger, Caledonia Elementary School jumped 18 spots from last year’s rankings.
