The Starkville Police Department is asking for the public”s help to locate two pieces of equipment stolen recently from area homes.
The most recent theft occurred Nov. 6, when an Exmark 52-inch zero-turnaround mower, the trailer on which it was sitting, and an assortment of landscaping equipment were taken from an apartment on Wood Street in the Brownsville Station complex, according to Starkville police. The trailer with the mower and landscaping equipment was disconnected from a pickup truck and stolen sometime between midnight and 3 a.m., police believe.
Starkville police said the trailer was hooked up to another vehicle and driven away. The Exmark is valued at approximately $8,000.
Police also are investigating the Oct. 30 theft of a 2001 Honda Rancher four-wheeler and its trailer from a home on Lincoln Green. The four-wheeler, valued at approximately $3,000, was stolen sometime overnight. Police also believe this trailer was hooked up to the another vehicle and driven from the scene.
Starkville Police Department Sgt. Chadd Garnett warned Friday that the suspect or suspects might attempt to sell either of the stolen items to unsuspecting customers. If someone has purchased a four-wheeler or an Exmark recently which fit these descriptions, Garnett is urging the buyer or buyers to contact police.
“We just want people to know that if you bought this off an individual, you”re not in trouble,” Garnett said. “We just want to get these items back to the rightful owners. If anybody has bought them in the last week or so, let us know and we”ll try to get your money back through the court system with restitution.”
