Absentee ballots for the Tuesday Lowndes County District 1 Justice Court judge's seat are available in the office of Circuit Clerk Haley Salazar.
In addition to normal business hours of 8-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, the circuit clerk's office will open Saturday, from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. for absentee voting.
Candidates Ron C. Cooke and Chris Hemphill are on the ballot for the runoff after none of the five initial candidates received a majority of the Nov. 3 votes.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for the runoff election to fill the District 1 Justice Court judge's seat left empty when Phillip Robertson died in November 2008.
Hemphill was appointed to fill the seat temporarily.
The deadline for voting absentee inside the circuit clerk's office is Saturday at noon. Absentee ballots, which have been mailed to electors, must be returned by mail to the circuit clerk's office on or before Monday at 5 p.m. for the ballot to be counted.
For more information regarding absentee ballots call the Circuit Clerk's Office at 662-329-5900.
Precincts participating in the Tuesday election are Caledonia, Steens, Immanuel, Airbase, Lee Middle, portions of Columbus High and portions of Brandon.
Those who vote at Brandon and Columbus High and are unsure if they are eligible to vote in Tuesday's District 1 election should call the Lowndes County circuit clerk's office during regular business hours of 8 a.m.-5p.m. on weekdays.
