BankTEL Systems, the premier provider of financial accounting and cash management software applications won top honors at the 2014 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Exporting. The awards luncheon, which was sponsored by the State of Mississippi, Mississippi Development Authority and the Mississippi District Export Council (DEC), was held Wednesday, December 3 at the Country Club of Jackson.
“It’s so critical, because when you look at growing by over 360 percent in 10 years and $12.3 billion dollars in exporting, these companies in the private sector are making this happen and we are truly now a global economy in Mississippi, so we want to recognize those that are putting us on the map global wise,” said Governor Phil Bryant. Mississippi Development Authority began recognizing companies for their exporting efforts in 2009. Applicants had to demonstrate export management success by any variety of activities including: a) major increase in export sales; b) breakthrough in a particular competitive market; c) introduction of a new product into export trade; d) successful response to a foreign market challenge.
“It (exporting) actually enhances the economy for the state for everyone,” said Marco Moran, chairman for DEC and founder of Dewmar International BMC, Inc. “It increases jobs. It increases moral of small and mid-size businesses to let them know that there are a number of other avenues out there to make a tremendous amount of money from their products and services.” Boyce Adams, founder of BankTEL Systems, echos Moran’s sentiments. “The more we promote our products overseas, the more Mississippians we can put to work here,Columbus and our other regional offices across the state.”
