WEST POINT — A four-mile stretch of road that provides access to the new Yokohama Tire plant in West Point is nearing completion.
Calvert Engineering President Robert Calvert tells WTVA-TV in Tupelo the construction company has some finishing touches to make on the road, but he anticipates it will open shortly after the first of the year.
Eutaw Construction began working on the project back in February.
The road has access to Highway 45-Alternate and to Barton Ferry Road which leads to Highway 50.
Yokohama is scheduled to open its $300 million commercial tire plant in October 2015. It will produce truck and bus tires. It will employ about 500 people.
