HAMILTON -- A Hamilton mother is asking for help finding her missing 16-year-old daughter.
Jasmine Howard was last seen at her Fields Drive home around 11 p.m. Sunday. Her mother, Jacqueline Howard, said Jasmine, a sophomore at Hamilton High School, text messaged a cousin around 4:30 a.m. Monday to say she was "leaving home."
"From what I was told, it was one guy from Amory and one guy from Aberdeen came to my house and picked her up (Monday) morning," Howard said this morning.
Those men, according to Howard, are Chris Dobbs, 20, of Amory, and a white male in his 20s from Aberdeen known to Howard only as Timbo.
She has never met either man but said both are friends with Jasmine.
Jacqueline Howard spoke to Dobbs after retrieving the most recent numbers and texts from Jasmine's phone through their cellular provider.
Dobbs hasn't spoken to Jasmine in "a while," and no law enforcement officials have attempted to contact him, he said this morning.
Howard said the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Aberdeen Police Department and Amory Police Department have been notified of the details surrounding Jasmine's disappearance, but no officials were available this morning to confirm an investigation is ongoing.
A third man, Zach Polk, of Amory, was questioned in the case according to Jacqueline Howard. Dobbs, who is Polk's cousin, confirmed law enforcement officials had visited Polk's home.
"She ain't down here with him, either," said Dobbs, who said Polk likewise had nothing to do with Jacqueline Howard's disappearance.
A fourth man, Joe Black of Memphis, Tenn., is being sought by authorities for questioning, Dobbs said. Jacqueline Howard said Black's number was in Jasmine's phone, but Black claims to have been in Memphis since Saturday.
Jasmine Howard weighs 120 pounds and is 5-foot-3-inches tall with long black hair, normally worn in a pony tail, and glasses. She carries a pink Nike backpack. Jasmine suffers from the sleep disorder narcolepsy.
Jacqueline Howard suspects her daughter may be traveling in a red 1998 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Timbo.
I have a hard time understanding Amory's closed eyes around there once great town, youths missing - sexual midconduct of minors, the drugs. and what are we doign about it? NOTHING - and for the person that said "she aint no kid" Shes someone child and the money and drugs have nothing to do with this right now. We have one of our own missing, if she left on her own free will Please Call, but we all need to remember 16 is a minor and she has no free will, 16 can get you a lot of time w/o parole. My prayers go out to the family of this young girl and pray she finds her way back home before it is to late to turn around her actions.,
Jacqueline, my heart and prayers go out for you. This is so devastating for you and your family, the waiting part is the worst. Not knowing and the uncertainty of it all is so overwhelming. I will be your prayer warrior in seeking God on Jasmine's behalf. Much prayer will saturate your daughter for her safety and for you as her worried mother.
She ain't no kid and when the drugs and money are gone, she'll be back. Just remember, she wasn't abducted. She voluntarily "left home" with these guys. Come on now, Jasmine call your mom and let her know you'e okay...
I hope that she is found happy and healthy! Have you ever compared Columbus with the Bermuda Triangle? So many deaths and disappearances it is like they are being sucked into the Bermuda Triangle, or is it that all those deaths and disappearances are too much for the local law enforcement to deal with? Stay on them, and hopefully more work will be done for your daughter than has been done for Kaila Morris. I remember a couple of unsolved murders when I lived in Columbus--and that was from 1976 to 1982. From one Mother to another, keep the law enforcement on their toes and accountable to you! They are public servants and WORK FOR YOU! Keep them on their toes and DEMAND information! Our prayers are with you and you family.
