Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle will hold a community blood drive in the hospital’s Outpatient Pavilion Conference Center on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The hospital is working with United Blood Services, which supplies blood to all hospitals in the Golden Triangle. Baptist and UBS will put on the drive in honor of National Blood Donor Month, according to a press release from the hospital.
The drive’s goal is to have 30 donors, according to Donna Grant, community relations coordinator at Baptist and coordinator of the drive.
“This is a critical time for supplying blood, so we really need people to give,” she said.
Donors can make an appointment to donate at bloodhero.com. Find the drive using the Sponsor Code: baptistgt.
Donors can also complete a health history interview online at unitedbloodservices.org on the day of the interview and print their results, which will speed up the donation process.
Volunteer donors must be at least 16 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Sixteen-year-olds must have signed permission from a parent or guardian in order to donate. All volunteers must have a photo ID to give blood.
Donors will be entered in a region-wide drawing to win a trip for two to New Orleans for the Krewe of Orpheus “Orpheuscapade” on Feb. 2. The winner will be drawn Feb. 2. Donors will also receive a Mardi Gras T-shirt while supplies last in celebration of Mardi Gras.
