Crime Stopper tip nets grand larceny arrest

Columbus police made numerous arrests recently, with charges ranging from grand larceny to shoplifting, with one arrest coming on a tip from Crime Stoppers. 

 


According to information provided by CPD Public Information Officer Terrie Songer, Shamor Lidell Billups, 18, of 1903 Second Ave. N., was arrested Dec. 3 at 6:20 p.m. on a charge of grand larceny. 

 


The arrest results from an incident that took place Nov. 11 at Accessory Corner in Leigh Mall. According to the incident report, Crime Stoppers received a tip on Billups as the offender. The tip was passed on to the criminal investigator assigned to the case. He reviewed the store''s surveillance video of the incident again, and was able to positively identify Billups as the offender. 

 


Bond has been set at $5,000 for Billups, and his court date has been scheduled for Jan. 7.

     

     


  • Aatif Martin, 34, of 1703 12th Ave. N. in Columbus, was arrested Dec. 4 at 2:26 a.m. on a charge of domestic violence-aggravated assault with a weapon. The arrest results from an incident that took place Dec. 4. No bond or court date has been set. 

     


  • Timothy Lamont Leech, 38, 82 Bell Circle of Columbus, was arrested Nov. 30 at 3:42 p.m. on a charge of shoplifting, third offense. The arrest stems from an incident at Wal-Mart on Nov. 30. Bond has been set at $5,000, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 7. 

     


  • Timmie Ray Shields, 26, of 76 Shields Lane in Columbus, was arrested Nov. 30 at 1:21 p.m. on a charge of burglary of a dwelling/house. The arrest stems from a burglary of a home on Nov. 29. Shields is charged with stealing a chain saw from a garage in the 500 block of Plymouth Road.
