The Starkville Police Department arrested a man after he allegedly passed a stopped school bus and nearly struck a child in the Sand Hill area Monday.
Brandon Terrel Wordlaw, 20, of 135 Sand Road, was charged with passing a stopped bus and no driver’s license after a camera attached to a Starkville School District bus showed a car come within feet of the student.
Children were crossing a street near the Sand Hill Arms apartment complex at 3 p.m. Monday, the time of the incident, and the bus’ blinking stop sign was extended, an SPD release states.
Investigators obtained the vehicle tag number and spoke with witnesses at the scene shortly after the incident occurred.
Wordlaw’s bond was set at $971 in Starkville Municipal Court.
