Morrison Healthcare has named OCH director of food and nutrition, David Jernigan “Director of the Year.” Jernigan was selected out of a group of 67 directors in his region for the prestigious accolade. With more than 45 years of experience in the food industry, he currently oversees a staff of more than two dozen employees in the medical center’s department of food and nutrition. Morrison’s regional director of operations, Arthur Sparks said the underlying component that sets Jernigan apart from his peers is his attitude. Jernigan has excelled by growing and developing his team at OCH. Not only has Jernigan received one of the highest scores in the region on his employee engagement survey, but he also scored at the top of the company on his client survey.
In addition to providing direction and leadership for all customer service initiatives, including the appropriate recruitment, selection and development of staff, Jernigan performs a variety of duties including the planning and supervision of special functions, maintaining cash control and payroll records. He also consistently evaluates the production, safe handling and quality of all food prepared and distributed to ensure that it is consistent with Morrison’s policy and procedures for quality food service. “Our goal is to accommodate each patient’s needs and exceed expectations. Good nutrition helps the healing process, and we take our role in that process very seriously,” said Jernigan.
