The Mississippi State University Police Department arrested three Starkville residents, including one juvenile, on multiple auto burglary charges Wednesday.
The two adults charged were 21-year-old Antonio Bardwell and 18-year-old Dontea Tate. No addresses were provided.
Oktibbeha County Sheriff’s Department confirmed Bardwell faces four counts of burglary of a vehicle, while Tate was charged with two similar counts.
The Dispatch does not print names of minors charged with crimes in most circumstances.
Acknowledging an increase in area auto burglaries, an MSUPD release states officers observed the three suspects looking into vehicles in a campus parking lot at 2:14 a.m. Wednesday.
A subsequent traffic stop yielded the arrests.
The three suspects are not affiliated with MSU, the release stated.
The case remains under investigation by MSUPD, OCSD and Starkville Police Department.
