The inaugural blood drive for the week-long blood drive “I Bleed Maroon” will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rice and Moseley halls at Mississippi State University on Sunday.
The drive is the kick-off event to “I Bleed Maroon” which lasts Apr. 12-17 and is sponsored by United Blood Services and MSU radion station WMSV, according to a United Blood Services press release.
The first drive will involve a night of fun for MSU students who can enjoy pizza and music, according to Caroline Pugh, donor recruitment representative for United Blood Services. United Blood Services mascot Ubie will also be on campus to remind students and faculty about the drive.
Starkville-area residents are encouraged to donate during the week-long drive. Donors will receive a T-shirt, a free cover to Rick’s Cafe on Apr. 25 and entry into a daily prize package. Donors also will receive entry into the grand prize drawing of free textbooks for a semester from the campus Barnes and Noble.
Donors are encouraged to make appointments by calling or texting 662-321-9988 or online at bloodhero.com.
