The following sentences were handed down during the November term of Circuit Court at the Lowness County Courthouse. Judge James L. Kitchens Jr. and Judge Lee J. Howard presided.
- R.D. Malone, 2218 Third Ave. S. in Columbus, pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine. Kitchens sentenced Malone to eight years with Mississippi Department of Corrections, then five years probation. The defendant was ordered to pay $5,000 in fines and costs, with $4,000 suspended.
- Selmon Guyton, 101 Harris Drive in Columbus, pleaded guilty to sale of cocaine. Kitchens sentenced Guyton to 15 years with MDOC, then five years probation. Defendant is ordered to pay costs and fines totaling $5,000.
- Leron Dentre Harris, 1464 Concord Road in Columbus, pleaded guilty to count one, aggravated assault and was sentenced by Kitchens to one year with MDOC, then five years probation. On counts two and three of aggravated assault and burglary of a dwelling, the charges were retired to the files based on the defendant”s guilty plea.
- Carlos Marque Smith, 9 Elmore St. in Columbus, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine. Kitchens sentenced Smith to five years with MDOC, then five years probation.
- Richard Tyler Pennington, 266 Fourth St. N.W. in Vernon, Ala., pleaded guilty to count three, possession of methamphetamine. Kitchens sentenced Pennington to five years with MDOC, and three years probation. Conspiracy count one and count two charges were retired to files.
- Patrick D. Aris, 4013 Hwy. 373 Columbus, pleaded guilty to DUI, third offense. Howard sentenced Aris to five years with MDOC, one year of house arrest and four years probation.
- Rex Allen Wilson, 1415 Second Ave. N. in Columbus, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling. Kitchens sentenced Wilson to three years with MDOC, then five years probation. Defendant was ordered to pay costs and fines totaling $2,000.
- Sherman Lee Hall, 1808 Seventh Ave. N. in Columbus, pleaded guilty to shoplifting. Kitchens sentenced Hall to one year with MDOC, then five years probation.
- Darelena McKinley, 103 Television Road in Columbus, pleaded guilty to count one, sale of alprazolam. Kitchens sentenced McKinley to four years with MDOC, then five years probation. Defendant is ordered to pay court costs and fines totaling $1,000. On the charge of count two, sale of marijuana, less than 30 grams, McKinley pleaded guilty, and was sentenced to three years with MDOC to run concurrent with the other sentence.
- Courtney Hartzell, 1625 Hwy 69 S. in Columbus, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling. Kitchens sentenced the defendant to three years with MDOC, then five years probation.
- Anthony Slaughter, 2420 Fifth Ave. S. in Columbus, pleaded guilty to count three sale of cocaine. Kitchens sentenced Slaughter to 10 years with MDOC, then five years probation, and ordered to pay court costs and fines totaling $5,000. Slaughter also pleaded guilty to count one, sale of cocaine, and was sentenced to serve 10 years with MDOC. Counts two and four sale of cocaine, the charges were retired to court files.
