Dr. Jennifer Miles, vice president for student affairs and professor of educational leadership at Mississippi University for Women, has been chosen for the Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI), a program designed to prepare individuals to serve as college and university presidents and chancellors. Miles will be among about 30 participants who will attend the MLI institute this summer in Washington, D.C., scheduled for June 6-9.
MLI is co-sponsored by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. Participants will work with program faculty to determine the skills they need to develop in order to successfully compete for presidencies. After the institute, each participant will be assigned a president or chancellor mentor for the year. Miles said her goal is to serve W students as best she can. “I want to continue to learn how institutions of higher education and divisions of student affairs can serve the needs of our students and prepare students for the future,” Miles said.
