A Columbus man wanted in connection with an April 29 shooting in east Columbus turned himself into authorities Monday.
Capt. Brent Swan with the Columbus Police Department said Patrion Barrett, 19, of 306 Forrest Blvd., is being held on an aggravated assault charge.
Municipal Judge Nicole Clinkscales set his bond at $250,000.
The shooting took place at a gas station near the intersection of Forrest Boulevard and McCrary Road. The victim received a grazing wound to the arm.
Authorities have declined to release the victim’s name. At the scene, however, the victim identified himself to a Dispatch reporter as Damian Cureton, 20. He was treated for a gunshot wound to the elbow in the parking lot of Quick and Easy Deli on McCrary Road North by paramedics, but refused to be treated at the hospital.
According to CPD, Barrett and Cureton got into a verbal argument that allegedly led to Barrett shooting Cureton. Authorities say Barrett fled the scene. CPD had issued a warrant for his arrest and had been seeking him since.
