Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s are inviting women to volunteer on Thursday as part of National Women Build Week.
Local volunteers will be working at 114 Brown St., with tasks including some demolition, painting the exterior and some repair work. Volunteer shifts are from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
No construction skills are necessary.
National Women Build Week, held May 2-10, challenges women to devote at least one day to building simple, decent and affordable housing in their local communities. More than 62,000 women from all 50 states have volunteered in previous years, according to a Habitat for Humanity press release.
“We are very excited about this year,” said Kathy Arinder, executive director of Columbus Lowndes Habitat for Humanity. “This is our eighth year to participate in National Women Build Week, and we are very appreciative of the support of Lowe’s…this is a great opportunity for women of all skill levels to come together to help a family in need of better housing.”
To volunteer or donate to the project, call 662-329-2501 or email [email protected]. Arinder asks that Thursday’s volunteers call to sign up as space may be limited.
