Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle received an ‘A’ patient safety rating in the Spring 2015 Safety Score by Leapfrog Group.
The hospital is one of only 182 in the U.S. to have achieved all A’s since Leapfrog Group first launched the safety rating program in 2012, according to a BMH press release.
The safety score is based on how well hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors in the hospital. It is calculated based on several factors, including safe practice measures, surgical care improvement project measures and patient safety indicators.
Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle is the only Mississippi hospital to receive straight As. Of the 32 Mississippi hospitals that received scores this year, it is one of only two which received an A in 2015.
The other hospital to receive an A was Biloxi Regional Medical Center on the Gulf Coast.
“Our more than 1,000 employees and our physicians and other clinicians work very hard to provide a safe hospital environment for our patients,” said Paul Cade, administrator and CEO of Baptist Golden Triangle. “Our ‘straight A’ designation shows that we have an excellent track record of keeping our patients safe, and that patient safety is a top priority for everyone here.”
The Leapfrog Group is a national non-profit of large healthcare employers whose Blue Ribbon Expert Panel and Hospital Safety Score calculate scores of A,B, C, D or F for hospitals throughout the country.
