A woman accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death in 2013 is standing trial for murder this week in Lowndes County Circuit Court.
The trial of Chaddy Mae Brooks, 29, began Tuesday before Judge James Kitchens. Both the state and defense rested Wednesday and the jury is set to receive the case for deliberation today.
According to authorities, Brooks allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Danielle Gore, 37, in the neck with a kitchen knife in the apartment the two shared at Cypress Park on Lehmberg Road. Brooks called 911 after the stabbing.
The couple has five children. Two of them were in the apartment when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff’s department.
Lowndes County deputies told The Dispatch previously that a downstairs neighbor heard Brooks and Gore arguing before Gore’s death.
District Attorney Forrest Allgood is representing the state, while Robert Sneed Laher is representing Brooks.
