Cappe’s Steakhouse in Starkville is closed until further notice after a Saturday fire gutted its kitchen area.
Starkville firefighters from four of the city’s five stations were dispatched to the scene about 11:30 p.m., said Fire Marshal Stein McMullen. The blaze damaged the front and side portion of the building, but no employees were at the restaurant at the time of the incident.
No injuries were reported.
McMullen said the fire’s cause is still undetermined.
Operators of the restaurant’s social media accounts posted updates saying the restaurant will not “be open for business at this time.”
The Dispatch called the Eckford Drive restaurant this morning but no one answered. A timetable for repairs and a reopening date is unknown.
Established in 1993, Cappe’s moved to its current location eight years later.
