A man was shot to death near his home in western Clay County Saturday night.
Curtis Clardy, 46, of 812 Jack Williams Road in Cedar Bluff, died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Clay County Sheriff”s Office Chief Investigator Eddie Scott. The CCSO received the call reporting Clardy”s death at 9:44 p.m. Saturday.
Scott said Clardy”s body was found in the road near his home on the dead-end street. Clardy and another man reportedly followed the shooter in a vehicle before a confrontation ensued, leading to the shooting. Both the alleged shooter and Clardy”s companion were scheduled to speak with CCSO investigators today. The shooter has not been charged or placed under arrest.
“I”m anxious to talk with (the shooter). We”ve got a full day of interviews going on,” said Scott.
Scott says the CCSO is treating the shooting as a homicide but will wait to speak with witnesses and receive autopsy results from the Mississippi Crime Lab in Jackson before pressing charges.
The identities of the shooter and Clardy”s companion were not released.
