STARKVILLE — A Columbus woman died Tuesday night in a single-car wreck east of Starkville.
Elizabeth Gore, 19, was traveling east on Highway 182 in a 1993 Toyota Corolla, about 1 1/2 miles east of the Starkville city limits, at about 10:15 p.m. when the accident occurred, Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Affairs Officer Brian Mobley said. According to Oktibbeha County Fire Services Coordinator Kirk Rosenhan, the vehicle “ran off the road” and hit an embankment or a driveway.
Highway Patrol officers were dispatched to the scene at 10:22 p.m.
“She was not wearing a seat belt,” Mobley said.
Gore was transported to Oktibbeha County Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by Coroner Michael Hunt. The accident is still under investigation, Mobley said.
The accident occurred near the University Hills Superette.
